Quality through standardisation

At Spatial every tool we make is bespoke, so it best fits your needs. The way we develop these tools, however, is always the same. With a wide array of ready-made components at our disposal we can quickly build prototypes for you to test.

We work in an iterative software development method called Scrum where every cycle delivers a more complete product, starting from the core functionality. In this way, you can quickly identify aspects that do or don’t work and where to add or leave certain functionality out. It requires dedicated team members but it makes the process quick, flexible and the results fitting to your situation.

Using what’s there

We work closely together with your team to get the parameters, models and guidelines we need. This includes:

  • Proprietary datasets to include in maps & models

  • Main grid sizes or parametric ranges

  • Simplified CAD or IFC models for major components or modules

  • Combinatorial limitations between components (e.g. stacking)

  • Available options on building level (e.g. facade materials)

  • Pricing structure for in-app quoting

  • In this first phase, we figure out how your building system can be made configurable. This includes determining important limitations and unique selling points and identifying the use case.

  • We develop a rough technical prototype to show you how your system would be presented: what the possibilities and limitations would be within the configurator. We prioritise aspects for the next development steps.

  • This development cycle focuses on making a first version that you can use with clients. It contains all the essential functionality: project management, user management etc. This version can be used to do extensive testing with pilot projects.

  • This is the first version that will be out there in the wild. It will be live, in touch with real customers and should give you a good idea of how much further the configurator can bring your business.

  • While the application is live, we will work with you to make it as useful and effective as can be. Optimisations, changes and extensions of the application can be developed. In parallel, there’s a Service Level Agreement to make sure your app is accessible, secure and up-to-date.
